LASER CUTTING SERVICES

		The Model Shop provides custom laser cutting services for modeling and prototyping purposes. Using Laserlink® software and the Beam Dynamics LMC® we can fabricate your parts from acrylic, wood and most other sheet material up to 48" x 48" x 1" seamlessly.
Observing the following CAD file guidelines will cut your costs on set-up, lasing and your parts will be as clean and precise as possible.
Autocad dwg files, Release 2002 or lower.  All objects should be closed polylines.  No splines, ellipses or 3-D objects. The " Z " value for all parts must be zero. Flattened extruded objects will not cut. Create separate layers for scoring, outside cuts and inside cuts. (different weight score lines should be on separate layers.) Unused layers should be removed The laser beam width is about .008". Parts .030" or less may have to compensate for the laser beam. Offset your part half the width of the beam. All files should be sent properly scaled, so they are ready to cut. The units should be in decimal inches to ensure that your parts are the correct size. If you choose to send your own material for cutting, make sure overall size is ½"min. larger than file dimensions. The overall bed size is 48" x 48". Any larger size parts may need to be spliced.
